20 May 2026	The Council has submitted further documents for inclusion in the examination library: EX/CC/05 - Projected House Building Rates Background Paper EX/CC/06 - Stage 3 Landscape Design Report and Appendices EX/CC/07 - Cumbria Good Lighting Technical Advice Note v.2 A typographical error has also be found in the document EX/INS/04 which incorrectly refers to policy DM8 instead of DM9. The document has now been amended and republished as EX/INS/04a
23 April 2026	The Inspector has published documents in relation to the upcoming examination hearings which are due to commence at 9.30 on Tuesday 22 June 2026 at Cumberland Council Offices at Civic Centre, Rickergate, Carlisle, CA3 8QG. EX/INS/03 – Letter to Cumberland Council EX/INS/03a – Appendix 1 Matters, Issues and Questions (MIQs) EX/INS/03b – Appendix 2 Notes EX/INS/04 – Draft Hearing Programme v.2 EX/INS/05 – Programme Officer’s covering letter Please note that the deadline for notifying the Programme Officer that you wish to participate in the hearings is 15 May 2026 and the deadline for submitted hearing statements in relation to the Matters, Issues abd Questions (MIQs) is 5 June 2026
4 March 2026	The Council submitted further documents to the examination: EX/CC/03 - Draft Minutes Meeting of Executive 17 February 2026 EX/CC/03a - SCGV Delivery Vehicle Options Appraisal EX/CC/04 - SCGV Equalities Impact Assessment (December 2025)
16 February 2026	The Council has submitted its response (EX/CC/02) to the Inspector's Initial Questions (EX/INS/02). Both documents can be viewed on the Examination Library page.
9 February 2026	The Council has submitted a letter (EX/CC/01) which has been received from Natural England, regarding changes to Nutrient Neutrality requirements in Carlisle (effectively lifting the requirements on developers following a reassessment of nutrient pollution levels in the River Eden). The letter is available to view and download on the Examination Library page.
2 February 2026	The inspector has published two new documents, which have been added to the Examination Library EX/INS/01 - Inspector's Guidance Note EX/INS/02 - Inspector's Preliminary Questions to the Council The Inspector has requested that the Council responds to him by midday on 13 February 2026. Please note that representors are not being asked to respond at this stage.
